Henier Meyer bronze sculpture of Weismann Roadster MF3

When you first think about it, what do sports cars and art have in common? Very little, you might say. But after looking at the Wiesmann Art Edition, you’ll be able to realize how strong the link between sports cars and art is, especially that the artist, Heiner Meyer, has succeeded in showing just that.

Since 1970s, Heiner Meyer is known for being one of the established pop art sculptor and artist of our time with paintings shown in Barcelona, Frankfurt and Miami.

Weismann is a German company that produces puristic sports cars. Weismann and Meyer came to work together through interior designer Anke Anstoetz, who also happens to be a businessman. And the rest as they say is history.

The latest Meyer masterpiece is a magnificent Weismann Roadster MF3 sculpture in bronze. Despite the miniature size, it’s amazing how the pop artist captured every piece of detail on the original sports car like the license plate holder, the shape of the car, and the mirrors.

Selected guests and sports car and art enthusiasts were able to view the bronze sculpture during the special event held on May 13, 2011at the Transparent Factory. Epicurean delights were enjoyed by the socializing crowd. Art and automobile topics were also discussed but the highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Weismann Roadster MF3 bronze sculpture by Heiner Meyer himself. The prized work of art is 64 mm x 100 mm x 212 mm in size and weighs about 5kg.

The Wiesmann concept roadser can blast from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in under 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 kph. Wiesmann opts for BMW V8 engines for the MF4 and the MF5

Niche sports car manufacturer Wiesmann drops the V10 5.0L BMW engines of the MF4 and the MF5 to replace it with the twin turbo V8 4.4L direct injection BMW engine running on petrol.

The new engine can give out 407 horsepower while at 5,500 through 6,400 rpm which means that the MF4 can blast from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and have a top speed of 180.8 mph.  The new MF4 engine is more economical and has a lower carbon dioxide emission.

The MF5 will also be relying on the same engine but it will be getting a modified version that outputs 555 hp bringing the car from standstill to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and give it a top speed of 193.2 mph. The new powerplant makes the MF5 the most powerful Weismann in history.

The more powerful engine does not mean that owners will have to shell out more for fuel. The new BMW engine has a mileage of 21.9 miles per gallon.

The new BMW M engines will really come as a good surprise for those who think that the vintage styled Wiesmann supercars will only have a 4-cylinder or a more potent straight six powerplant.

Meanwhile, the MF3 will retain its straight six 3.2L engine which now compliant with Euro 5 standards.
